In 2019 Spadel Benelux obtains the Lean & Green « Star » for its efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint in transport and logistics.
In 2018, the Spa Monopole site received the highest rating (Gold) of the European Water Stewardship certification system for the third time. This label focuses on four central principles: sustainable water extraction, guaranteeing good water quality, maintaining a healthy water cycle and a transparent water policy.
Brecon Carreg (Spadel UK) wins the Welsh Government Responsible SME of the Year Award in 2018. The award identifies and celebrates companies which are making a positive difference to the economic, social and environmental challenges Wales faces.
In 2018 Spadel France (Carola, Wattwiller) received the Great Place to Work label, a worldwide framework helping organisations to become top employers.
Spadel’s CSR Manager, Ann Vandenhende, was proclaimed “CSR Professional of the Year” in the “large company” category in 2016. This award is a fitting reward for the CSR policy she has pursued.
In 2016, Spadel received the ‘Golden’ classification in the Ecovadis ranking. This means Spadel ranks among the best 6% sustainability performers in our sector. This assessment determines our CSR performance in 4 subject areas (environment, social, ethics and suppliers).
In 2016, Spadel was awarded the CAP 48 prize for Corporate Citizenship for its facility in Spa Monopole. This annual prize is presented to companies that promote the employment of people with disabilities. Spadel was rewarded for its efforts to promote accessibility and employment.
In 2015, Spadel won the Belgian Media Prize for Energy and the Environment for the BeeSpa project. This initiative in cooperation with BeeOdiversity enables Spadel to monitor the quality of its protection areas. The positive results of the study represent the efficiency of the protective measures undertaken over more than 125 years. The project is being rolled out to other Spadel sites so as to also guarantee biodiversity there.
Since 2015 Spadel France (Carola and Wattwiller) holds the label Entrepreneur + Engag of the FEEF (Fdration des Entreprises et Entrepreneurs de France). Six themes ranging from attention to the environment over social dialogue to protection of consumers underly this label.
Since 2015 Spadel is a CO2 neutral company for its own operations and facilities (scope 1 and 2 in jargon). Antoine Geerinckx, Founding Manager CO2Logic : “The award of the CO2 neutral label is a clear signal of Spadel’s commitment to continue its pioneering role in the area of sustainability. With this, Spadel is taking the necessary steps that will have to be taken by most companies anyway in the next few years if we wish to remain below the 2°C rise in global warming.”
